How to Apply
mPower loans are available to anyone who can benefit from adaptive equipment of any kind. Loans are provided to:
- elders
- parents of children with disability-related needs
- people with mental illness
- the Deaf
- people with mobility impairments
- people who are visually impaired
An mPower loan can make it possible for people with disabilities to do things and go places they never dreamed were possible. Take the questionnaire below to see who can qualify for a loan.

Business forms
The Finance Authority of Maine administers the mPower application process for businesses. You can set up an appointment with them directly, or download the application forms to begin the application process yourself. Please do not hesitate to call with questions.
Make your business accessible to everyone
mPower can help you increase the independence and productivity of your employees and customers. mPower provides low-cost loans to businesses for the purchase, construction or installation of anything that allows people with disabilities to become more independent within the community and makes your business more accessible. The possibilities are endless. Loan funds are an excellent way to help your business implement the Americans with Disabilities Act.
What you need to know
To qualify for this program, your non-profit or for-profit business must have a location in Maine. mPower makes loans up to $100,000 at a fixed rate that will not exceed the Prime at the time the loan is approved. Loan repayment schedules can be up to 20 years. Loans are typically secured by business assets. mPower contracts with the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) to underwrite your loan.
mPower can work with any bank
mPower loans are used to enhance accessibility. Alpha One has architects who specialize in the ADA requirements of access design. This can mean the purchase of special equipment or a physical renovation to a building. In many cases, a renovation or construction project will also include features that are not accessibility-related. That portion of the project will be financed separately, through a bank or credit union. mPower can work directly with any financial institution to put together a total loan package for the entire project.
How do I apply?
Just download an application form. The completed form can be submitted to FAME at the address below. Or, simply contact us by email or at the phone number below. FAME underwrites the request and presents a recommendation to the program's Board of Directors. The Board of Directors will make the final loan decision.
