For many Maine people with disabilities, adaptive equipment - no matter how necessary - is a luxury. Whether a new wheelchair, a hearing aid, or an adapted van, the cost is often beyond the reach of the day-to-day budget.
That's why Maine is proud to offer the mPower program. Through mPower, Mainers can borrow up to $100,000. These funds can purchase the equipment, renovations or technologies people with disabilities need to address the challenges of everyday life.
And you don't have to have a disability to qualify. If a family member or friend has a disability-related need, you can apply for a loan.
mPower is more than an ordinary loan program. mPower loans are made at low interest rates with longer repayment schedules. This reduces monthly payments. It makes necessary adaptive equipment a real possibility.
As loans are repaid, money is made available for additional mPower loans. This creates an ongoing resource for Mainers with disability-related needs.
